EMPHASIS: Honorary Trooper Certificate To Be Awarded Posthumously


Captain Dale A. Schmidt, commanding officer, Troop F, Jefferson City, will present posthumously an “Honorary Trooper” certificate to Neilson B. Rudd of Wildwood for his actions at a motor vehicle crash in Callaway County. The presentation will be at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, December 17, 2007, at the Jefferson Barrack National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
On December 9, 2007, Mr. Rudd came upon a traffic crash on U.S. 63 near the Katy Trail overpass during a severe ice storm. Mr. Rudd stopped his vehicle and went to assist the driver of a vehicle that had lost control and slid into the median. After attempts to make the scene as safe as possible, Mr. Rudd was struck by a vehicle that lost control and slid into the median. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Mr. Rudd was a member of the Missouri National Guard.
