EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Results Of Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Program

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of SAFETE, an enforcement program focusing on violations of commercial motor vehicles. SAFETE was conducted on Friday, June 22, 2012, in Franklin County. During the eight-hour project, five troopers focused their enforcement activities on hazardous operations of commercial motor vehicles.

As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 20 summonses and 25 warnings were issued. Of those summonses, four people were cited for exceeding the speed limit, one person was cited for no seat belt, one person was cited for a stop sign violation, one person was cited for a non-moving violation, three people were cited for no insurance, and ten summonses were issued for commercial motor vehicle violations. During the eight-hour project, 29 vehicles were stopped.

Captain Johnson stated, “This was an extremely productive enforcement project. Judging by the results it is apparent that there continues to be a need for these types of operations. Please assist us in our efforts by reporting careless drivers and other suspicious activities on Missouri’s roadways.”
