EMPHASIS: New Troopers Report To Troop H


Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer of Troop H, announces the assignment of three new troopers to Troop H.

The newly assigned troopers were members of the 98th Recruit Class, which began training on January 2, 2014, at the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, Missouri, and graduated on June 27, 2014. The new troopers will report for duty on July 14, 2014, at Troop H Headquarters in St. Joseph, Missouri, and will continue their training under the guidance of their field training officers.

Trooper Shaun P. Sprague has been assigned to Zone 6, which patrols Andrew and Buchanan counties. Trooper Sprague is a native of Albany, Missouri, and a 1997 graduate of Albany High School in Albany, Missouri. Trooper Sprague served in the United States Marine Corps for four years where he attained the rank of sergeant. Trooper Sprague then served with the United States Army for four years where he maintained the rank of sergeant. Trooper Sprague is married to Ashley M. (Mears) Sprague and they have two children, Derek and Dayne. His field training officer will be Trooper Kaleb F. Jeffers.

Trooper Keenan J. Cool has been assigned to Zone 10, which patrols Daviess and Dekalb counties. Trooper Cool is a native of Newton, Missouri, and a 2009 graduate of Newton-Harris R-3 in Newton, Missouri. Trooper Cool attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he majored in exercise science. His field training officer will be Trooper Aaron K. Griffin.

Trooper Krystalyn H. Davis has been assigned to Zone 5, which patrols Andrew and Buchanan counties. Trooper Davis is a native of St. Joseph, Missouri, and a 2009 graduate of Buchanan County R-IV in DeKalb, Missouri. Trooper Davis attended Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. Her field training officer will be Corporal Kurt A. Schmutzler.

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
