EMPHASIS: Missouri State Highway Patrol Requesting Assistance With Information Regarding Fatal Leaving The Scene Of A Motor Vehicle Accident
On Saturday, September 29, 2007 at approximately 8:20 p.m., members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to investigate a traffic crash involving a pedestrian, on U.S.24, five miles west of Hannibal, Missouri, in Marion County. Upon arrival officers determined an eastbound vehicle had struck Chip C. Wyrde, 39, of St. Louis, Missouri, while he was standing near his disabled vehicle on the exit ramp near the Rocket Plaza Truck Stop. The striking vehicle continued eastbound without stopping. Marion County Coroner Peggy Porter pronounced Wyrde dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the traffic crash.
The vehicle that left the scene of the traffic crash is possibly a late 1980’s or early 1990’s GMC or Chevrolet pickup, or sport utility vehicle. The vehicle will have a broken drivers window, missing drivers side mirror, and damage to the left (drivers side) front corner. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is asking anyone who might have any information about the traffic crash or knowledge of the vehicle to immediately contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B Headquarters at (660) 385-2132.
