EMPHASIS: Troop B Area High School Students Participate In Patrol's Student Alliance Program

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that 23 Troop B area high school students, representing 14 high schools, completed the 2016 Troop B Missouri State Highway Patrol Student Alliance Program. The program was conducted at the Troop B Headquarters in Macon, MO, on Saturday, March 19, 2016, and Saturday, March 26, 2016. During the two-day program, students were familiarized with many duties performed by a Missouri state trooper, and participated in hands-on activities such as firing a Glock pistol, stop and approach, and crime scene investigations. The students also observed a canine demonstration. The program, which targeted juniors and seniors in high school, was conducted to provide an opportunity for interested individuals to learn more about law enforcement and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Each participant was presented a certificate of completion and a Missouri State Highway Patrol T-shirt.

Students attending the program were: Jerry Anders, of Bucklin, MO; Gage Aubrey, of Polo, MO; Joseph Avery, of Cairo, MO; Tristen Berry, of Queen City, MO; Coltin Dorrell, of New Florence, MO; Dylan Downey, of Atlanta, MO; Reece Dwiggins, of Macon, MO; Christopher Fowler, of Queen City, MO; Cole Lambert, of Chula, MO; Noah Lawrence, of Moberly, MO; Alex Leathers, of Cairo, MO; Chelsea Lineberry, of Bevier, MO; Westley Jennings, of Macon, MO; Kaitlyn Mersman, of Shelbyville, MO; Anthony Perry, of Shelbyville, MO; Jonas Roach, of Moberly, MO; Cody Roth, of Macon, MO; Kirkland Seldal, of Macon, MO; Tyler Sinclair, of Bevier, MO; Logan Smith, of La Plata, MO; Matthew Taylor, of Palmyra, MO; Cody Tuma, of Paris, MO; and James Wright, of Bucklin, MO.

"I am very pleased to see these high school students participate in this program and hope it was a positive, educational experience," stated Captain Wilt. "We are very proud to have the opportunity to showcase the Patrol, and look forward to conducting future programs such as this one."
Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
