Emphasis: Troop D Reports One Fatality Over Christmas Holiday.


Captain Randy Beydler, commanding officer, Troop D, reports one fatality occurred during the Christmas holiday counting period from 6 p.m., Friday, December 21, to 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2007.

Jeremy K. Sill, 37, of Diamond, MO, died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2007 when the vehicle he was driving crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head-on. Sill was not wearing a seat belt. The crash occurred west of Diamond on Missouri Highway V in Newton County. The driver of the other vehicle was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Newton County Coroner Lee Ireland pronounced Sill dead at the scene.

Troop D’s 18 county region accounted for 48 crashes with 27 injured occupants. Troopers arrested 14 drivers suspected of driving while intoxicated.
