EMPHASIS: Drug Investigation Leads To Arrest Of Lebanon Resident

Following a short-term investigation by members of the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group (LANEG) Drug Task Force, Lebanon Police Department, and Laclede County Sheriff's Department, a Lebanon resident was arrested on felony drug charges.
At approximately 8 p.m., December 10, 2009, a search warrant was executed at the residence of Samuel D. Settles, 83, in Lebanon, MO. Located during the search of the home was approximately 32 grams of crystal methamphetamine, three shotguns, and a pistol. Settles was subsequently arrested for first degree drug trafficking (methamphetamine) and incarcerated in the Laclede County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

The charges for which Settles was arrested are mere accusations and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
