EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) Enforcement Operations

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) enforcement operations conducted on Interstate 44 in Jasper County on January 4, and 5, 2016, and in Greene County on January 6, 2016. The enforcement area was selected due to a history of criminal activity along the I-44 corridor as well as a high propensity for commercial vehicle violations.

During the operations in Jasper County, troopers along with a Missouri State Highway Patrol commercial vehicle officer, stopped 38 commercial vehicles and 22 passenger vehicles. Additionally, 29 commercial vehicle inspections were conducted. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation.

Misdemeanor Drug Arrests -- 2
Speed Violations -- 2
Commercial Vehicle Violation -- 1
Seat Belt Violations -- 2
Non-Moving Violations -- 4

Troopers also issued 63 warnings for various other offenses during these operations.

During the operation in Greene County, troopers along with a Missouri State Highway Patrol commercial vehicle officer, stopped 28 commercial vehicles and 20 passenger vehicles. Additionally, 22 commercial motor vehicle inspections were conducted, which resulted in two commercial vehicles being placed out-of-service. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation.

Troopers also issued 53 warnings for various other offenses during this operation.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
