EMPHASIS: Results of Boating While Intoxicated Saturation Conducted in Troop C

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the results of a boating while intoxicated saturation conducted on August 5, 2012, on the Mississippi River in Pike County. During the eight-hour project, four troopers focused their enforcement activities on impaired boat operators, hazardous boat operation, and other hazardous boating violations that contribute to boating crashes.

During the eight-hour project, 24 vessels were stopped. A total of four summonses and 30 warnings were issued. Of those summonses, one person was arrested for boating while intoxicated, one person was cited for a non-moving violation, one person was cited for a hazardous moving violation, and one person was cited for a marine violation. In addition, troopers conducted 10 marine inspections during the operation.

“The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to ensure that Missouri’s waterways are safe and enjoyable to the public. Remember to wear your life jacket and do not operate a vessel while intoxicated.” stated Captain Johnson
