EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint -- Butler County


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Butler County. The checkpoint was held from 11 p.m. on June 5, 2015, to 3 a.m. on June 6, 2015. A total of 145 vehicles were stopped during the four-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

1 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrest
1 -- No Driver’s License Summons
5 -- Non-Moving Violation Summonses
4 -- Seat Belt Summonses
1 -- Driving While Revoked Arrest
7 -- Seat Belt Summonses
30 -- Warnings
1 -- Felony Warrant Arrest

The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated. To report a suspected impaired driver dial 9-1-1 or *55 on a cellular device.


Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
