EMPHASIS: Four New Troopers Assigned To Troop A


Captain Scott A. Shipers, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, is pleased to announce the assignment of four new troopers to Troop A. The new troopers are members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 101st Recruit Class, which graduated from the Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy on December 18, 2015. The new troopers will report for duty on January 4, 2016.

Trooper Douglas J. Jackson, a native of Nixa, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 14, which serves the citizens of Bates County. Trooper Jackson graduated from Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri. He is currently serving in the Missouri Army National Guard reserves. Trooper Jackson and his wife have one child.

Trooper Brian R. Siercks, a native of Kearney, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 14, which serves the citizens of Bates County. Trooper Siercks graduated from Kearney High School in Kearney, Missouri. He holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and psychology from Park University in Kansas City, Missouri.

Trooper Travon C. Smith, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 14, which serves the citizens of Bates County. Trooper Smith graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. Trooper Smith and his wife have three children.

Trooper Jared J. Thompson, a native of Cameron, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 15, which serves the citizens of Henry County. Trooper Thompson graduated from Cameron R-1 High School in Cameron, Missouri. He attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
