EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Marion County By Troop B Officers During The Month Of August 2013


Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted by Troop B officers during the month of August 2013.
On August 17, 2013, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Marion County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 24 in West Quincy, Missouri. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at midnight on August 17, 2013, and concluded at 4:00 a.m. on August 18, 2013, officers checked 202 vehicles, made 12 arrests, and issued five citations. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

4-- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
2-- Arrests for misdemeanor drug violations
4-- Arrests for misdemeanor warrants
1-- Arrest for a misdemeanor criminal violation
1-- Arrest for a felony drug violation
3-- Citations issued for non-moving violations
2-- Citations issued for driver's license violations

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
