EMPHASIS: New Troopers Assigned To Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, is pleased to announce the assignment of four new troopers to Troop D. The new troopers were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 100th Recruit Class that graduated from the Patrol Academy on June 26, 2015. The new troopers report for duty on July 13, 2015.

Trooper Todd C. Baker, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, has been assigned to Zone 9, which serves the citizens of Cedar and St. Clair counties. Trooper Baker graduated from LaVille High School in Lakeville, Indiana. After graduating high school, he attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, where he earned a liberal arts degree. Trooper Baker’s field training officer will be Trooper Adam S. Rice, and his immediate supervisor will be Sergeant Gary W. Riggs.

Trooper Travis L. Harmon, a native of Bolivar, Missouri, has been assigned to Zone 9, which serves the citizens of Cedar and St. Clair counties. Trooper Harmon graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Missouri. After graduating high school, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. In his last assignment, Trooper Harmon was stationed in Yuma, Arizona, where he served as a military police officer. Trooper Harmon is married to Kaitlyn (Moss). His field training officer will be Trooper W. Jim Wood, and his immediate supervisor will be Sergeant Gary W. Riggs.

Trooper Ryan L. Hutton, a native of Lewisville, Texas, has been assigned to Zone 6, which serves the citizens of Dade and Lawrence counties. Trooper Hutton graduated from
Wheaton High School in Wheaton, Missouri. After graduating high school, he attended Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, where he earned a bachelor’s degree
in general studies. Trooper Hutton is married to Kayla (Morris). His field training officer will be Corporal Steve C. Jones, and his immediate supervisor will be Sergeant John A. Cyrus.

Trooper Christina A. Sumner, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, has been assigned to Zone 10, which serves the citizens of Webster County. Trooper Sumner graduated from
Fair Grove High School in Fair Grove, Missouri. After graduating high school, she attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, where she earned a bachelor’s degree
in sports management. She later attended Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, earning a master’s degree in education. Trooper Sumner has three children, JT, 9, Loghan, 7, and Grayson, 3. Her field training officer will be Trooper Justin W. Choate, and her immediate supervisor will be Sergeant Jeffrey D. Fugett.
