EMPHASIS: 2007 Troop B Area Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement And Traffic Crash Totals


Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the 2007 Thanksgiving Holiday traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop B area, which consists of the 16 northeast counties of Missouri.
During the 2007 Thanksgiving weekend traffic crash counting period, which began on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at 6:00 p.m., and ended on Sunday, November 25, 2007, at 11:59 p.m., Troop B officers investigated 15 traffic crashes, including two fatal crashes in which five people died. Preliminary enforcement totals show Troop B officers made 11 arrests for driving while intoxicated, issued 265 speeding summonses and 78 seat belt summonses, and assisted 71 motorists.
“The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes holiday weekends very seriously,” stated Captain Elliott. “Taking the job of driving seriously, and remembering to buckle up will help attain our goal of less than 1,000 fatalities by the end of 2008.”
