EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In St. Francois County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012, in St. Francois County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations. During the operation, a total of 19 arrests were made along with 20 warnings. Three subjects were arrested for driving while intoxicated, two for following too close, one for no seat belt, three for speed, eight non-moving summonses were issued, and two subjects were arrested on drug possession charges.

Captain Johnson stated, “Driving while intoxicated continues to be responsible for approximately 30 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
