EMPHASIS: Troop I To Step Up Enforcement For The Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer, Troop I Rolla, announces that troopers assigned to the entire Troop I area will aggressively step up enforcement operations over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The operations’ objective is to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes and to save lives. State troopers assigned to Troop I and throughout the state will once again be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). Enforcement on ALL highways will be increased over the entire holiday weekend, and troopers will be vigorously enforcing all traffic laws and lending assistance to motorist in need.

Captain Remillard stated, “Our number one goal here at Troop I and throughout Missouri, is to make sure that our highways are safe. Please drive safely, slow down, buckle up, and don’t drink and drive. We want to wish all motorist, whether you live in the area or are just passing through, a very happy Thanksgiving!”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
