EMPHASIS: New Troopers Assigned To Troop A


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A in Lee’s Summit announces the assignment of nine new troopers to Troop A. Forty-two troopers graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy located in Jefferson City, Missouri on July 11, 2008 and reported for duty on July 28, 2008.
Trooper Steven R. Bechtel has been assigned to Zone 11, Cass County. Trooper Bechtel is a native of Harrisonville, Missouri and a graduate of Harrisonville High School. He graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He is currently a member of the Missouri Army National Guard, 1139th Military Police Company, in Harrisonville, Missouri. Trooper Bechtel and his wife, Alexis, have one child.
Trooper Jason W. Conklin has been assigned to Zone 5, Ray/Carroll Counties. Trooper Conklin is a native of Huntsville, Missouri and a graduate of Westran High School. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri where he studied aviation. Trooper Conklin and his wife, Danielle, have two children.
Trooper Aaron S. Craig has been assigned to Zone 13, Pettis County. Trooper Craig is a native of Cole Camp, Missouri and a graduate of Benton County R-1 High School. He graduated from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri in 2007 with an Associates of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.
Trooper David J. Kline has been assigned to Zone 4, Clay County. Trooper Kline is a native of Mexico, Missouri. He graduated from the Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri in 2007 with an Associates of Arts degree.
Trooper Bryan W. Long has been assigned to Zone 7, Jackson County. Trooper Long is a native of Holts Summit, Missouri and a graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Trooper Long and his wife, Angel, have two children.
Trooper Jason P. Millsap has been assigned to Zone 16, Benton County. Trooper Millsap is a native of Lebanon, Missouri and a graduate of Lebanon High School. He attended Ozarks Technical College in Springfield, Missouri. Trooper Millsap was an emergency medical technician in Springfield, Missouri prior to joining the patrol.
Trooper Larry K. Nelson has been assigned to Zone 13, Pettis County. Trooper Nelson is a native of Edwards, Missouri and a graduate of Warsaw High School. Trooper Nelson graduated from Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri in 2008 with an Associates of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Trooper Nelson and his wife, Tammy, have two children.
Trooper James C. Rector has been assigned to Zone 8, Lafayette County. Trooper Rector is a native of Lexington, Missouri and a graduate of Lexington R-5 High School. Trooper Rector attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Trooper Rector was a commercial vehicle officer for the Missouri State Highway Patrol prior to becoming a trooper. Trooper Rector has two children.
Trooper Doug W. Scotten has been assigned to Zone 14, Bates County. Trooper Scotten is a native of Walker, Missouri and a graduate of Walker High School. He graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business. In 2007, Trooper Scotten received a Masters of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. Trooper Scotten was employed as a Missouri State Park Ranger prior to his employment with the patrol. Trooper Scotten is married to the former Michelle Peterson.
