EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Ray County On September 28, 2013


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Saturday evening, September 28, 2013. The checkpoint was held from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 3 a.m. on Sunday and was located at Missouri Highway 10 at East Golf Hill Drive. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 214 cars were checked during this four-hour operation and members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol issued 21 warnings and made the following arrests:

4 -- DWI arrests
2 -- child restraint summonses
2 -- non-moving summonses
2 -- misdemeanor drug arrests

Captain Powell stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
