From 7 p.m. on May 9, 2009, to 3 a.m. on May 10, 2009, three Troop B officers focused their attention on highways in Randolph County, with a goal of detecting intoxicated drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. Of those arrests, two individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated, one was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant, three citations were issued for speed, one citation was issued for a seat belt violation, one citation was issued for a non-moving violation, and one citation was issued for an insurance violation.
On May 15, 2009, from noon until 8 p.m., three Troop B officers focused their attention on U.S. Highway 36, Missouri Highway 11, and Missouri Highway 5, in Linn County, with a goal of detecting hazardous moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes. During the eight-hour enforcement operation, officers issued 10 citations and 13 warnings. Of the citations issued, five were issued for speed, four were issued for seat belt violations, and one was issued for a stop sign violation.
“Troop B officers will be conducting numerous special enforcement operations throughout the summer months to promote safety on our highways,” stated Captain Elliott. “I would like to encourage motorists to pay close attention to their driving habits and always wear their seat belts.”
