EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Christmas And New Year's Traffic Crash And DWI Arrest Totals

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, announces the traffic crash and DWI enforcement totals for both the Christmas and New Year’s counting periods.
During the Christmas counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2013, and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, Troop I officers investigated only one (non-injury) traffic crash. Troop I can also report that there were no arrests for DWI made during the shortened 30-hour counting period in 2013. During the longer, 102-hour Christmas holiday counting period in 2012, Troop I officers investigated 17 traffic crashes, which resulted in seven injuries and no fatalities. During that counting period, Troop I officers made seven arrests for DWI.
The 2014 New Year’s counting period was also just 30 hours in length, as opposed to the 2013 counting period, which lasted 102 hours. Four traffic crashes were investigated, which resulted in four injuries and no fatalities during the counting period that began at 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. On New Year’s Day, Troop I officers made three arrests for DWI. Last year, Troop I officers investigated 54 traffic crashes, which resulted in 18 injuries and no fatalities, while also arresting four individuals for driving while intoxicated.
Captain Kenley stated, “With each New Year, many of us make what we hope are positive, life changing resolutions. I would like to encourage everyone to make a resolution that involves courteous and safe driving, as we work together to make our highways safer every year.”
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
