EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Enforcement Saturation Conducted In Marion And Ralls Counties

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Marion and Ralls counties. The saturation was held on January 24, 2015, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. During the enforcement operation, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, officers made two arrests, and issued seven traffic citations and 16 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturations:

2 -- Arrests for driving while intoxicated.
1 -- Citation was issued for exceeding the speed limit.
1 -- Citation was issued for a seat belt violation.
2 -- Citations were issued for hazardous moving violations.
1 -- Citation was issued for a driver's license violation.
1 -- Citation was issued for an insurance violation.
1 -- Citation was issued for a misdemeanor drug violation.

"The Patrol will conduct more traffic enforcement programs in the upcoming months," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver."
In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
