EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Sobriety Checkpoint In St. Louis County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in St. Louis County sometime in the month of September 2012. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies will conduct the sobriety checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Captain Johnson says, "Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the intoxicated driver from Missouri's highways. If you suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated, call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the toll-free emergency number 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55."
