EMPHASIS: Troop F Releases Memorial Day Holiday Totals

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer, Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the following preliminary boating and traffic totals for the 2016 Memorial Day holiday period.

Troop F troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) from Friday, May 27, 2016, through Monday, May 30, 2016, meaning every available officer was on the road enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists. Troop F reported zero fatal traffic crashes on the highways and investigated 45 traffic crashes, resulting in nine injuries. Troopers made 15 DWI arrests, and issued 224 speed citations. Also, 54 people received citations for not wearing a seat belt. Over the course of the weekend, troopers gave 1,130 warnings and had 512 calls for service in Troop F.

Troopers assigned to Lake of the Ozarks worked extended shifts--12 hours--during the Memorial Day weekend. There were zero boating fatalities over the 2016 Memorial Day weekend in Troop F. Troopers investigated six boating crashes involving two injuries. There were no drownings. Troopers arrested eight people for boating while intoxicated.

Captain Turner says, “I am very pleased no one lost their life on the roadways or waterways in Troop F this Memorial Day weekend. Our troopers work very hard to keep the motoring and boating public safe.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
