EMPHASIS: Approximately 140 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized By Missouri State Highway Patrol On I-44

On Saturday, March 7, 2009, an officer of the Missouri State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 44 in Franklin County. The eastbound 2007 Peterbilt truck pulling a car hauler transporting a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria passenger car was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. A conversation with the driver resulted in the trooper requesting consent to search. Consent to search was granted by the driver of the truck. Further investigation revealed approximately 140 pounds of marijuana located in the trunk of the 2001 Ford Crown Victoria.
The driver, Olar Calin, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested for distribution and delivery of a controlled substance and was transported to the Franklin County Jail.
The charge for which Calin has been arrested is mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
