EMPHASIS: Sexual Assault Investigation Leads To Arrest

On March 2, 2015, Abraham Acosta, 22, of Sibley, Iowa, was arrested for sexual assault. The arrest occurred in Nodaway County and was the result of a joint investigation between the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, Maryville Department of Public Safety, Northwest Missouri State University Police Department, and the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department. Acosta was transported to the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department on a 24-hour hold pending the issuance of an arrest warrant.

On March 3, 2015, Acosta was charged with rape or attempted rape 1st degree and rape 2nd degree. Acosta continues to be held at the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department in lieu of bond.

The above charges are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
