EMPHASIS: Troop F To Offer Certified Boater Safety Course

Captain Gregory D. Kindle, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces a boater safety certification course being offered to the public on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Versailles Middle School Cafeteria, 913 W. Newton Street, Versailles, MO. The class will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m. There is no fee for this course; however, students are required to pre-register online as seating will be limited. Students are also advised to bring a snack or sack lunch to the training. For more information, to register for the course, or to obtain a complete listing of where other courses are being offered, you may visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Web site, www.mshp.dps.mo.gov. A Boat Safety Education & Certification link can be found on the left side of the Patrol's home page under training. On the day of the class, the “Boat Safety” link also will post if the course is being canceled due to an insufficient number of participants.

Missouri law requires any person born after January 1, 1984, to carry a boater safety certification card along with a picture I.D. anytime they operate a vessel, which includes personal watercraft, on Missouri lakes. Any student who successfully passes the course will be eligible to order the boater safety certification card for $15.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
