EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In St. Louis County
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, St. Louis, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the potential hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009, to 3 a.m., Sunday, December 20, 2009, in St. Louis County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations and impaired driving conditions. During the operation, a total of 51 vehicles were stopped. Of those stopped, 34 arrests were made and 59 warnings were issued. Among the arrests were four subjects arrested for driving while intoxicated. Additional summonses issued include 11 speed violations, one following too close violation, four seat belt violations, and 14 non-moving violations.
Captain Johnson stated, “Driving while intoxicated continues to be responsible for approximately 27 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
