EMPHASIS: Drug Investigation

Captain Kyle D. Marquart, director of the Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the result of a joint narcotics investigation in Camden County.

On Wednesday, December 1, 2010, after a narcotics investigation, officers of the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Osage Beach Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol executed a search warrant on a residence located at 4853 Gunn Road, Osage Beach, Missouri. As a result of the search warrant, approximately 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana, illegal prescription drugs, a firearm with ammunition, and $1,140 in U.S. currency were seized. Also located during the search of the residence were numerous items of illegal drug packaging and distribution, and drug paraphernalia. Ronald Ferry, 41, of Osage Beach, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Camden County Sherriff’s Department. Ferry was formally charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon, and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Ferry is currently held on a $50,000 cash and a $150,000 surety bond. Based on the quantity of marijuana and other evidence of drug distribution, the U.S. currency will be processed for civil forfeiture.

The Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group is a multi-jurisdictional drug task force. Its members include the sheriff’s departments of Crawford, Camden, Gasconade, Pulaski, Laclede, and Maries counties, as well as the Lebanon and Osage Beach police departments. LANEG is governed by a board of directors and is coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
