Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturation conducted in Adair County. The saturation began at 11 p.m. on July 20, 2013, and concluded at 3 a.m. on July 21, 2013. During the enforcement operation, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, officers made 10 arrests and issued 35 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturation:

3 -- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
1 -- Citation was issued for exceeding the speed limit
3 -- Citations were issued for seat belt violations
2 -- Citations were issued for non-moving violations
1 -- Citation was issued for an insurance violation

"The Patrol will conduct more traffic enforcement programs in the upcoming months," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
