EMPHASIS: Troop C Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Results In St. Louis County


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, St Louis, is pleased to announce the results of the Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. project that was conducted on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, in St. Louis County on Interstate 44 and Lewis Road. During the eight-hour project, 10 troopers focused their attention on violations that occurred in the construction/work zone on I-44 east and west of Lewis Road.
As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 91 summonses and 48 warnings were issued. Of those summonses, 77 individuals were cited for exceeding the speed limit and four for no seat belt. The remaining summonses were issued for miscellaneous violations. During the eight-hour project, 87 vehicles were stopped for various traffic violations.
Captain Johnson said, “These types of operations that are conducted in construction/work zones make it safer for the motoring public, contractors, and state employees. Please obey the reduced speed limits and be attentive while driving through construction zones.”
