Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the temporary closure of the driver examination station in Mt. Vernon on Friday, October 9, 2015, for Apple Butter Making Days. The public is encouraged to use the Republic Driver Examination Station, located at the Republic Community Center, 711 E. Miller Rd., Republic, Missouri, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, motorcycle skills tests will be given at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. For questions or directions, please call 417-942-8029. The Mt. Vernon Driver Examination Station will resume normal testing on Friday, October 16, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Join us in supporting the Drive To Zero Highway Deaths. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
