EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces August Enforcement Operation

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that troopers will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Pulaski County during the month of August. The checkpoint will be conducted on a particular highway where a larger number of alcohol-related traffic crashes have occurred.
Captain Kenley urges all motorists passing through the checkpoint to use extreme caution by slowing down, keeping their eyes on the road, watching for vehicles ahead that may be stopping suddenly, and to follow the directions of the officers. She would also like to remind each motorist to be prepared to present both their driver’s license and proof of insurance as they approach the checkpoint.
Captain Kenley stated, “Too many people are seriously injured or killed on Missouri streets and highways every year by impaired drivers. I believe that operations such as this serve as both a strong deterrent and a proven method to remove intoxicated drivers from our roads.”
