EMPHASIS: Phelps County Resident Arrested for Possession Of Drugs And Stolen Property

On August 16, 2007, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper obtained a search warrant for the residence and property of Michael D. Gilliam, 36, of St. James, Missouri. At approximately 8 a.m., August 17, 2007, the search warrant was served at Gilliam’s residence, which is located on Phelps County Road 1060. During their investigation officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia, a stolen all-terrain vehicle, and several firearms.
Gilliam was arrested for two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property, and two outstanding warrants. Gilliam was incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Assisting in this investigation were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop C SWAT team, Phelps County Sheriff’s Department and the South Central Drug Task Force. The St. James Fire Department and the St. James Ambulance Service also provided assistance.
The charges for which Gilliam has been arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
