Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Clark County.
On May 7, 2011, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Clark County Sheriff's Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. Highway 61/U.S. Highway 136, approximately three tenths of a mile south of the Iowa border, in Clark County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on May 7, 2011, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on May 8, 2011, officers checked 113 vehicles, made five arrests, and issued 17 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

1 -- Arrest for driving while intoxicated
1 -- Summons for a seat belt violation
2 -- Summonses for a non-moving violation
1 -- Summons for a driver’s license violation

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
