EMPHASIS: Troop C Officers Involved In Vehicle Pursuit And Conduct Manhunt

On March 15, 2010, Troop C officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit of a wanted subject that ended in a manhunt.

The pursuit started at approximately 4:05 a.m., from the Casino Queen Casino in Illinois, after the subject, identified as Gene Miller, 34, of Hillsboro, Missouri, ran from the Illinois Gaming Commission. The subject drove his green Ford pick-up from the casino into Missouri. The pursuit entered St. Louis City then traveled south on Interstate 55 to northbound Interstate 270, then west on Interstate 44. The pursuit continued south on Missouri Highway 109, onto Missouri Route W near Winnifred Drive, in Jefferson County, where the subject stopped his vehicle and ran on foot. During the pursuit shots were fired by the subject, however no one was injured. It was determined that the subject had several active felony warrants for his arrest. Troop C and Jefferson County SWAT teams were activated and conducted a search for the subject.

At approximately 7:40 a.m., a body was found in the Big River and was identified to be that of Mr. Miller. The investigation is continuing and the cause of death is undetermined.
