EMPHASIS: Troop A Prepares For The Thanksgiving Holiday Travel

Captain Eric T. Olson, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, MO, announces upcoming plans for Troop A officers to participate in Operation C.A.R.E. and 20-Mile Trooper enforcement programs for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the holiday. This means every available officer will be on the road enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists.
Additionally, Troop A officers will be conducting a 20-Mile Trooper project to maximize visibility on Interstates 70, 35, 29, 49, and 470, and U.S. Highway 50 in the Troop A area on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, and Sunday, November 30, 2014. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned to 20-mile intervals in an effort to enforce all traffic violations, emphasizing aggressive driving violations, with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday weekend.
“We want everyone’s Thanksgiving to be safe and enjoyable, especially as you travel on Missouri’s highways,” stated Captain Olson. “The Thanksgiving holiday is typically one of the most traveled holidays of the year, and I would like to urge all motorists to make sure safe driving is a part of your plans. Make sure everyone is wearing a seat belt, and never drink and drive."
In support of “The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
