EMPHASIS: DWI Saturation Results
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C in St. Louis, announces the results of two Driving While Intoxicated Saturations conducted over the April 18-19, 2008 weekend, in St. Francois and Jefferson counties. Nine Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers conducted the enforcement operations during two eight-hour enforcement projects. During the operations, the officers focused their attention on detecting and arresting intoxicated drivers, in an effort to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes.
As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 57 arrests were made and 85 warnings were issued. Of those arrests, three individuals were arrested for driving while intoxicated and one individual was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Officers also issued 13 summonses for speed and 9 seat belt summonses. A total of 109 vehicles were stopped during the operations.
Captain Johnson stated, “Removing intoxicated drivers from the roadway is a primary concern of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. We will continue to conduct these types of operations to achieve this goal. We strive to make our highways safer for motorists to travel. Please remember to always drive safe, wear your seat belt, and designate a sober driver.”
