EMPHASIS: Troop H Releases Results Of 20-Mile Trooper Project--Thanksgiving Holiday


Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of the 20-Mile Trooper project over the Thanksgiving holiday. The project encompassed two days, November 26, 2014, and November 30, 2014, designated as the peak travel days for the holiday period. Interstate 29 was the roadway designated for this project and troopers were assigned a 20-mile stretch of the interstate from the Buchanan County line to the Iowa state line. As a result of the project officers issued 120 citations and 196 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during this project:

1--Driving while intoxicated arrest
72--Speed citations
16--Seat belt citations
9--Non-moving citations
2--Driving while suspended citations
9--No insurance citations
1--Child restraint citation
1--Hazardous moving citation
2--No driver’s license citations
6--Drug arrests
1--Misdemeanor arrest
196--Warnings


“Troop H troopers’ vigorous enforcement efforts this Thanksgiving holiday helped keep everyone traveling through Troop H as safe possible,” stated Captain McDonald.

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
