EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers To Conduct Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. In Randolph County

Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that sometime between April 8, 2008 and April 12, 2008, Troop B officers will be conducting a special enforcement program on U.S. Highway 63, in Randolph County, entitled “Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T.” (Patrol Response Operation To Enforcement of Construction/work zone Traffic). Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. is an initiative to assess, identify, and prioritize construction/work zones with critical issues or problems affecting highway safety through complaints from the general public, highway/construction workers, law enforcement, and emergency responders. During this special enforcement operation a ZERO TOLERANCE enforcement policy will be in place for traffic violations occurring in the selected work or construction zone areas. Troopers will focus their attention on unsafe driving practices such as speeding, following too close, other hazardous moving violations, and commercial motor vehicle violations.
“With warmer weather arriving, motorists driving in Missouri will see a significant amount of areas where road improvement projects and new road construction are taking place,” said Captain Elliott. “Please pay attention and obey the warning signs displayed in these areas.”
