EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers Step Up Enforcement Over Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend
Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces Troop B officers will step up enforcement activities over the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday weekend by participating in two enforcement programs. Troopers will be participating in the national Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) enforcement program throughout the holiday weekend. As a part of the Operation C.A.R.E. program, all available officers will be assigned to work over the holiday period to provide maximum manpower during this busy travel time. As an added enforcement program, Troop B officers will also participate in a ten-mile trooper program on U.S. Highway 63, from 12 p.m. to midnight on November 25, and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on November 29, 2009. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned at 10-mile increments on U.S. 63 in the Troop B area enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists.
“Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest holidays for travel in our nation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is committed to making Missouri highways safe and to reduce traffic crashes,” stated Captain Elliott. “I want to encourage motorists to do their part by abiding by all traffic laws and making sure everyone in their vehicle is buckled up.”
