Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of the Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. project that was conducted on Monday, July 23, 2012, in St. Louis County. During the eight-hour project, eight troopers focused their attention on violations that occurred within the construction/work zone located on Interstate 44 near Antire Road.
As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 66 summonses and 70 warnings were issued. Of those summonses, 33 people were cited for exceeding the speed limit, eight were cited for no seat belt, three were cited for other hazardous moving violations, 10 were cited for non-moving violations, four were cited for no insurance, six were cited for following too close, and two commercial motor vehicle arrests were made. In addition, four commercial motor vehicle inspections were conducted which resulted in two commercial motor vehicles being placed out of service along with one driver being placed out of service.
“I want to encourage everyone driving through work zones to obey the reduced speed limit and be attentive while driving,” said Captain Johnson.
