EMPHASIS: Results Of 2013 Thanksgiving Enforcement Programs Conducted By Troop C Officers



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces the 2013 Thanksgiving traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop C area. Troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) during the holiday weekend. As an added enforcement effort, Troop C officers conducted a 20-Mile Trooper operation on Interstate 70 on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, and Sunday, December 1, 2013.

The 2013 Thanksgiving holiday weekend counting period was from 6 p.m. on November 27, 2013, through 11:59 p.m. on December 1, 2013. Enforcement totals are as follow:

Motor vehicle crashes investigated -- 96
Speed -- 680 summonses
Seat Belt -- 314 summonses
Child Restraint -- 18 summonses
Hazardous Moving Violations -- 151 summonses
Driver's License/Insurance/Registration Violations -- 302 summonses
Hazardous Equipment Violations -- 54 summonses
Non-moving Violations -- 84 summonses
Misdemeanor Arrests -- 113 arrests
Felony Arrests -- 13 arrests
DWI Arrests -- 31 arrests
Warnings -- 1528
Motorist Assists -- 328

“Even though this major holiday period has ended, we want to urge motorists to continue to drive safely and please take the job of driving seriously. Obey the speed limit, pay attention, buckle up, and do not drink and drive,” stated Captain Johnson.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
