EMPHASIS: Pursuit And Arrest In Clark County

At approximately 7:20 p.m., on March 6, 2012, a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a1994 Mercury for a traffic violation on U.S. Highway 136, at Luray, Missouri, in Clark County. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle eventually pulled into a field entrance off of Missouri Route N, about 1/2 a mile west of Missouri Route K. The driver, who was later identified as being Colt C. Hanie, 39, of Edina, Missouri, fled on foot. Members of the Patrol, including Patrol canine "Justo", Scotland County Sheriff's Office, Clark County Sheriff's Office, and LaGrange Police Department conducted a thorough search of the area. At approximately 9:30 p.m., the Patrol Canine Unit located Hanie in a field approximately four miles east of where he abandoned his vehicle.
Hanie was arrested for felony resisting arrest by fleeing, felony no driver's license, felony driving while intoxicated, felony Linn County warrant for a weapons violation, failed to drive on the right half of the roadway, failed to signal, failure to stop at a stop sign, speed, careless and imprudent driving, and trespassing in the second degree. Hanie is currently incarcerated in the Clark County Jail.
The charges for which Hanie was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
