EMPHASIS: Child Passenger Safety Enforcement Program To Be Conducted In Troop C
Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that Troop C will participate in a program designed to promote seat belt and child restraint usage for all motorists. The program will be conducted September 19-25, 2010, throughout the 11 counties within the Troop C area. This high-visibility enforcement campaign is necessary because we continue to lose too many lives on our roadways. In 2008, 489 people who were fatally injured in traffic crashes were not properly restrained. This passenger safety enforcement operation is critical to getting those individuals to buckle up.
Funding for the project is being provided by the Missouri Safety Center. Troopers will be enforcing a “zero tolerance” policy regarding the usage of seat belts and child restraint devices.
Captain Johnson stated, “We are all in this together and we need everyone traveling on Missouri roadways to buckle up. Please, buckle up and be sure to have all passengers in your vehicle do the same.”
