EMPHASIS: Captain McDonald Announces The Promotion Of Lieutenant M.A. Ott

Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, announces effective September 1, 2016, Sergeant Mark A. Ott is being promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned as the District I operations lieutenant. Lieutenant Ott is a 23-year veteran with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Ott was appointed to the Patrol August 1, 1993, as a member of the 66th Recruit Class. Upon graduation from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, he was assigned to Troop H, Zone 6, serving Andrew/Buchanan counties. In August 1998, he was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 2, serving Nodaway/Worth counties. Ott was promoted to sergeant in 2004, and designated zone supervisor of Zone 10, serving Daviess/Dekalb counties.

Ott was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. He graduated from Central High School. He earned an Associate of Science degree in criminal justice from Mineral Area College in 1998. Lieutenant Ott and his wife Paula have two children: Courtland and Nicholas.
