EMPHASIS: Major Timothy McDonald Retires December 1, 2014

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following retirement effective December 1, 2014:

Major Timothy McDonald will retire from the Missouri State Highway Patrol after serving and protecting the citizens of Missouri for almost 34 years.

Major McDonald was born in St. Louis, MO. McDonald was appointed to the Patrol on January 5, 1981, as a member of the 54th Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop C, Zone 5, St. Louis County. On October 1, 1993, he was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone commander of Troop C, Zone 8, St. Charles County. He was active with the D.A.R.E. program from March 1995 until September 2001. McDonald was promoted to sergeant on March 1, 1996, while serving in that position. On September 1, 2001, he was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the Professional Standards Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City. He transferred to the Gaming Division in 2004, and the Division of Drug and Crime Control in 2006. McDonald was promoted to captain and appointed as chief of staff, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, MO, on September 1, 2007. The chief of staff serves at the pleasure of the superintendent and is considered a member of the Patrol’s command staff. He was promoted to major on February 1, 2014, and remained chief of staff. It is from this assignment that he retires.
