EMPHASIS: OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T. / Interstate 64 & Interstate 170

“OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T.” (Patrol Response Operation To Enforcement of Construction/Work zone Traffic) is an initiative to assess, identify and prioritize construction/work zones with critical issues or problems affecting highway safety through complaints from the general public, highway/construction workers, law enforcement and emergency responders. In addition, a ZERO TOLERANCE enforcement policy has been established for the operation as well as routine construction zone enforcement focusing on traffic violations, such as speeding, following too close, other hazardous moving and commercial motor vehicle violations.

OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T. will utilize 9 state troopers to conduct this operation. The enforcement effort will focus on Interstate 64 and Interstate 170. Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. will commence at 9 a.m. and continue to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2008.
