EMPHASIS: 10-Mile Trooper Project
Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces traffic enforcement will be increased over the Labor Day weekend. On September 3, 2010, from 12 p.m. to midnight, and on September 6, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Troop A officers will be conducting a 10-Mile Trooper Project on Interstate 70 throughout the Troop A area. During this enforcement program, troopers will be assigned to I-70 at 10-mile intervals in an effort to step up traffic enforcement with a goal of reducing traffic crashes over the holiday weekend.
"Many people will be traveling on Missouri highways during Labor Day weekend. We ask motorists to be patient while traveling during this busy time period," stated Captain Powell. "Troopers will be enforcing traffic laws and assisting those who are stranded. Should you find yourself in need of assistance you can contact the Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or *55 on your cellular phone."
