EMPHASIS: OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T Detail In St. Charles County


OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T.” (Patrol Response Operation To Enforcement of Construction/work zone Traffic) is an initiative to assess, identify, and prioritize construction/work zones with critical issues or problems affecting highway safety through complaints from the general public, highway/construction workers, law enforcement, and emergency responders. In addition, a ZERO TOLERANCE enforcement policy has been established for the operation as well as routine construction zone enforcement focusing on traffic violations, such as speeding, following too close, other hazardous moving, and commercial motor vehicle violations.

OPERATION P.R.O.T.E.C.T. will utilize 13 state troopers during this enforcement detail, which will focus on traffic violations in the established construction zones. The enforcement effort will focus on U.S. Highway 40/61 south of Interstate 70, in St. Charles County. Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue to 4:00 p.m. on April 22, 2009.
