EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Memorial Day Weekend Enforcement Operations

Captain Ronald, S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, announces that during the Memorial Day weekend, Troop C officers will once again be participating in special enforcement operations with the objective of reducing traffic crashes. Throughout the weekend, troopers within Troop C and throughout the state will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). Additional enforcement projects include the statewide 20-Mile Trooper project that consists of troopers maximizing visibility by being assigned to 20-mile stretches of Interstate 44 and Interstate 70. The troopers assigned to both projects will be tasked with vigorously enforcing all traffic laws and helping any motorist that needs assistance. All available troopers will be assigned regular patrol duties over the holiday weekend. This year's counting period will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, May 23, and will run until 11:59 p.m., Monday, May 26, 2014.

“Many people will be traveling on Missouri’s highways during the holiday. We ask motorists to be patient and courteous while traveling during this busy time of the year,” stated Captain Johnson. “Troopers will be enforcing traffic laws and assisting those who are stranded. The troopers assigned to Troop C are committed to making our highways safe for everyone. Please take the job of driving seriously. Do not drink and drive, obey the speed limit, pay attention, and buckle up.”

In support of “The Drive To Zero Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!!
